I thought it would be important to write out my goals for the trip so that I won’t be too overwhelmed with what I would like to accomplish in the next three months. I’m not going to be pulling an Angelina Jolie (although bringing home a Brad Pitt look-alike wouldn’t be all that bad). Here they are in no particular order:

1. Visit the Gombe Stream Research Center- GSRC is located on the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika, 15km north of the town of Kigoma and is accessible only by boat.
2. Go on a safari
3. Collect some great textiles and other local art
4. Learn survival Swahili–more than “CAT…PAKA” and “HORSE…FARASI”
5. Visit Mt. Kilimanjaro and Lake Victoria
